The "Crawford Fund"
Crawford came to GEGRR from the Belmont County, Ohio dog pound. He unfortunately had
been picked up as a stray with no identification. At his estimated age of nine years he would have certainly been put to sleep to make room for younger dogs. His bail was posted and he was transferred to Central Ohio for veterinary care.
Crawford came with a huge tumor on his side which looked like half a football. The five pound tumor was removed at the Annehurst Clinic under the skilled hands of Dr. Mark Harris. He also had the surgery on one hip courtesy of Dr. Wolfe of OSU Veterinary Hospital.
Crawford fell ill in March of 1998. He was hospitalized at Annehurst and remained there undergoing tests and treatment. On March 27th he passed on while waiting for surgery to correct bladder and kidney stones.
A fund was started to help pay for his medical bills that were mounting prior to his death. The fund, even though he is gone will live on in his honor. The fund will assist other Goldens found in similar situations.
